How To Care For Your Nails After Acrylics

Posted by: Kaely P.

Many people love to get there nails done from time to time, but are only focused on the physical appearance of their nails, and not the overall condition of them. Caring for your nails is very important as you want to achieve the absolute appearance, inside and out. You have to make sure you are keeping the cuticles out, clearing hang/ingrown nails and polishing them, inorder to keep them healthy and looking their outright best! You want to make sure you always stay on top of this, as it is very important.

As women, it’s only right that we pamper ourselfs, and we love to do so by taking a trip to the nail salon and getting our nails done! However, many times when you get your nails done, the chemicals that are used to make your nails look pretty, are actually hurting your nail. For example, acrylic nails have chemicals that could over time ruin your natural nail if you do not properly take care of them. When you first take off your Acrylic Nails, you will notice that your real nails are very tender and fragile, that is due to the residue that was left behind from the acrlyic nails and its glue. Your nails may also become thin from the nail drill that is used to even out the imperfections in your acrlyic nail (which is why when you take off your fake nails, you will have a dent on your own nails).

I will provide you with inexpensive tips and tools, that you may use right at home, to keep your nails “up to date”.

Supplies you will need (pictured above):

Nail Buffer
Nail File
Clear Nail Polish
Small Nail brush
Moisturizing Cream / Cuticle Cream w. vitamin E
Cuticle and Hangnail Clipper
Cuticle Pusher

How to care for them: (picture above)

1. After you have removed your fake nails, give your nail some form by using a nail filer.
2. Apply moisturizing cream or cuticle cream (either or) onto your nail
3.Remove Cuticles.
4.Remove hang nails.
5. Apply olive oil on your nails with a brush or just pour some on your nails.
6. Wash your hands (When washing your hands, make sure you use a nail brush to clean inside and on top of your nails.) Dry your hands very well, dont leave them damp. To finalize, apply a coat of clear nail polish.
7. Use a Nail Buffer to even out your nails and smooth them out.

Tip of the day when cleaning: Make sure you wear gloves when cleaning. Why? because the chemicals you use to clean will damage your nails. Clorox is the number ONE chemical we use that damages hands.
